I encourage you to send out an alert to FOP members asking them to contact members of the Senate Commerce committee to express their opposition to SB 361. The vote in committee is this coming Friday.
Senate Bill 361 - Affording public employees and professional employees certain rights with respect to withholding of public employee organization and professional employee organization dues. FOP testified in opposition to the bill. This is a companion bill to House Bill 2586. The Senate Commerce Committee will be taking final action on Senate Bill 361 on Friday, February 21, 2020. This bill is basically an attempt by Anti-Labor to stop employers from direct deposit of your FOP dues. If this is passed, all dues would have to be collected individually. This would be a logistical nightmare for your lodge secretaries. By making it more difficult to collect dues, they believe less and less members would join the FOP.
The FOP is obviously opposed to this legislation and we are asking you to contact these State Senators to vote against it.
